Sheldon is an accomplished collaborative artist, educator, and artistic leader who prides himself on creating spaces that encourage community and authentic storytelling. Earning his MFA in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University, he honed his passion for creating stories that amplify his Pacific Islander heritage and the importance of authenticity from the infancy of a new work. His thesis entitled, “Increasing Diversity Within a Creative Team” centers on the necessary role of a cultural advisor as our society continues to amplify culturally specific stories. Determined to learn the ‘other side of the table,’ as a director, he has recently assisted at The Old Globe and Diversionary Theatre with distinguished BIPOC directors May Adrales, Jesca Prudencio, and Stafford Arima. Serving for two seasons as Artistic Director for Teatro San Diego, he led the non-profit theatre company to be voted Broadway World San Diego’s favorite local theater. When not on stage, he is a manager of Broadway houses, entertainment manager of SeaWorld San Diego, and currently travels as a manager on the national tour of SIX the Musical.
